The Art of the Judge
The Judge isn't just the voter — they're the heart of the game. A good Judge creates exciting rounds through clever questioning.
Technique 1: Ask Open-Ended Questions
Avoid yes/no questions. Instead ask "Describe..." or "What would you do if..." These force players to provide more details, making slips more likely.
Technique 2: Pressure Testing
Suddenly pivot to a player with a very specific question. For example: "Can you describe its texture?" The Knower might be slightly confused (the truth doesn't say), while the Bluffer might fabricate an answer.
Technique 3: Watch Eyes and Body Language
If playing in person, observe reactions. Nose touching, eye flickering, unnatural posture — all signs of nervousness.
Technique 4: Find Logical Breaks
Bluffers juggling lies often contradict themselves. If they say it's "ancient" in round one but "brand new" in round two, that's your opening.
Technique 5: Use Hypothetical Questions
Ask questions based on false assumptions and see who takes the bait. For example, if the topic is "Apple", ask: "Is this thing usually blue?" The Knower denies immediately; the Bluffer might hesitate.
